The Walnut Cove Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc. currently operates from one fire station within the Town of Walnut Cove and Stokes County. Our Fire Department provides our community with emergency response services as well as fire safety services and information. Department covers a 2.5 square-mile district for the Town of Walnut Cove and 38.9 square-miles of rural district in Stokes County.

We are the people, stations and programs that make up your Walnut Cove Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc. We provide fire protection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We work side by side with you as neighbors and friends.
Our district is served by one station, 3 (three) engines, Brush truck, 2 (Two) Quick Response Vehicles, Rescue truck, Ladder Truck and RTV. From its beginnings as a volunteer fire department, the department now has eleven (11) part-time employees and twenty-eight (25) volunteers. Citizens receive rapid responses to both emergency and non-emergency incidents.
Last year the department responded to over 1500 incidents in our response district as well as assisting other Stokes and Forsyth County Departments.
Our personnel are the backbone of the department. They represent our first line of defense … our backstop to fire emergencies that occur in our district. They train to high standards and represent the department well.
